Epic Direct PlayBoy Mansion Party 2010 (NSFW)
Saturday I was in L.A. for the 2nd annual Epic Direct (formally AzoogleAds) top publisher PlayBoy Mansion Event.
I went last year and it was an unreal experience. I did all the first timer stuff.. took the tours and tons of photos of everything. It was really an amazing experience.
This year Epic Direct had their work cut out for them. How do they pull off the same experience for all the new publishers they brought in while still maintaining the great experience for those who went before.
But Michael Sprouse, CMO of Epic, pulled it off with flying colors.
This year all of the house girls were quite a step up from last year. Not that they were bad looking last year but this year there were solid ten’s everywhere.
They also brought in some new entertainment. They had the reigning national champion pole dancer getting down (I don’t have a pic anywhere but looking).
Also they had this amazing Cirque Du Soleil style show over the Mansion Pool. It was like a FULL BLOWN show. If you have ever seen a Cirque style show you know what I am talking about. It had tons of dancing and aerial gymnastics. It featured America’s Got Talent Ashley Dejon (a finalist in this years show).
I got a chance to talk with Ashley a bit. Really nice girl:

Epic Direct PlayBoy Mansion Party 2010 (NSFW)
Flying United Airlines Business Class
Last Friday on my way to the Epic PlayBoy Mansion Party (post coming soon, pics already up here when I checked in at the Lincoln Airport I got upgraded to “Business Class”. I looked up from the kiosk and asked the United Representative what Business Class was and she said its in between First Class and Coach.
At first I thought this was a new gimmick to replace their economy plus. I get complementary upgraded on probably 90% of my flights to First Class and have gotten pretty spoiled.
But when I got on the plane I was stunned at how awesome it was.
Its something right out of Star Trek of all you have this like… 24″ wide screen LCD display in front of you. The in flight entertainment dealio is packed with Movies, Audio, Audio Books, and tons of other stuff. You can even plug in your iPod/iPad/iPhone and watch your own video’s on the screen.
I choose to keep it on the GPS screen as I planned on playing games on my iPad most of the trip:
The served us breakfast about 30 minutes into the 2 hour flight. I had had this same breakfast before flying United First Class and its really yummy.
The center console has so many options for your seating. Its really wild”

After breakfast I decided to put my seat in “bed” mode and take a nice nap.

If I could – starting over
Recently in the comments of another post someone challenged me by saying:
I have answered this many times. I would LOVE to do this. It would be a hell of a lot easier then what I do now!
What would this prove? Nothing… Either way. And I would have left my company for a year…
You know whats harder then making 1 million dollars? Making 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc.
The bigger you get the more problems you have.
Check out my distractions from the last year:
- 24 separate legal issues. 4 of which made it to court.
- 15 meetings with our accountants where I had to be involved (its a 1 hour drive each way to our accounting firm)
- 14 speaking engagements (3 keynote speeches). So far this year I been away from home almost 60 days…
But lets talk about finances for a minute. Right now I have 12 employees (full time and contractors mixed). We also outsource a ton of projects. Last year payroll was just shy of one million dollars.
That means every day I have to make $2,740 just to break even.
So… you… sitting at home… much like me 7 years ago on unemployment, I envy you.
Everything I do people expect me to hit a home run. Society is not expecting anything from you right now.
Please listen to me. Right now is an incredible time. One like the world has never seen before.
Internet Marketing and specifically affiliate marketing/internet arbitrage makes it possible for anyone from any race, social status, gender, whatever to generate income to have the life they always wanted.
But its not going to last long. Many states have already started to implement taxes on online revenue (affiliate tax) and the way this Obama administration I am guessing we will see it at the federal level.
Then mix in all the new FTC regulations which honestly, when read, seem to be a gun pointed right at affiliate marketing.
Someday when your kids ask you about the internet gold rush you will say one of 3 things:
- I made a lot of money
- I tried it and it just was not for me
- I missed the boat and have always wondered what I could have done with it
I always say failure is something I can live with, regret is not. Dont be the 3rd person in that list.
So get after it. You do not have to spend any money to start. All the information is out there for free. If you do have cash then there are products that condense all of it for you.
But you do not have to spend a dime if you have a ton of time on your hands!
You have no excuse. Get after it.

Crazy week
So far this this month I have added about 15,000 miles to my frequent flyer account. And this next weekend I am headed to L.A. for AzoogleAds/Epic Advertising’s annual playboy mansion event.

They told me this year was going to be much bigger and better than last year… although I can’t possibly see how that can happen.
Its going to be a slow week for me. Playing a lot of catchup, working with ShoeMoney System students, and try to get some work done.

Gymboree Gymbucks – Amazing Marketing Gimick
Yesterday I talked about reward programs in general. Today I want to break down what I think is one of the most ingenious reward programs I have ever seen. Gymboree Gymbucks.
For those who don’t know Gymboree is a place where you buy kids clothes and misc stuff. For every $50 you spend you earn $25 in gymbucks. Amazing huh you earn $25 in FREE MONEY for ever $50 you spend. I can’t tell you how many times my wife has bough 5 or 10 more dollars worth of stuff to get another $25 in gymbucks. For instance she has $42.50 worth of kids clothes. If lady at the counter reminds her that if she spends only another $7.50 on socks or sunglasses or anyone of the extremely overpriced things you don’t need you can get $25.00 in FREE MONEY TO SPEND YEHAW NO BRAINER!!!!!!! I can’t tell you how many times I have watched my wife look around Gymboree to find things to buy to cross the $50 threshold.
The fine print
You can only redeem the gymbucks a couple days out of the year and the days are printed on your reciept. Usually they are about 30-60 days out. My wife has all these days marked on her calendar. But only some of the gymbucks can be used on certain days.
Redeeming the gymbucks works the same way as getting them. You have to spend $50 to use a $25 coupon. Same logic applies every tries to buy more junk to round up to the next $50 increment so they can use their “free” money.
The best part is like everyone has the same days to use it. So the likely hood you can get the style and size of the item you want is like nil.
I could be off my rocker or maybe its just that being a marketer for a living has made me a bit cynical but I think they pull all the popular and low markup merchandise off the shelves during the days you can claim your gymbucks. Honestly it never seems like they have anything in stock and we have gone pretty early in the morning.
So your left with buying $50 of stuff that they could not sell (probably phased out last years line) to get your hard earned $25
in free spending.
The most amazing part… the stores are standing room only during the gymbuck days. What an amazing marketing system to move merchandise.
